Bird Park in Foz do Iguaçu: A Unique Experience with Nature

Discover a natural sanctuary where colorful birds soar around you and biodiversity becomes part of your adventure. If you’re planning a trip to Foz do Iguaçu, the Bird Park is a must-visit attraction. Here's everything you need to know!

In the city of Puerto Iguazú, there's also a similar place often mistaken for the bird house — it's called the Güira Oga Wildlife Refuge — guide in Spanish.

IN DETAIL

What Is the Bird Park?

Located in Foz do Iguaçu, right across from the famous Iguaçu National Park, the Bird Park is much more than just a zoo — it’s a true sanctuary for rescued birds and endangered species.

The park’s institutional account dates its founding to 1994 and describes 16 hectares of restored Atlantic Forest. Conservation and education are part of the visit, alongside observing the aviaries.

The operator describes approximately 1,400 animals, with more than half having rescue histories. That is not a claim that all were rescued from trafficking: individual backgrounds and care needs differ. About the visit.

What to See at the Bird Park?

🦜 Immersive Aviaries

One of the biggest highlights of the park is its huge aviaries, where visitors can walk among parrots, toucans, flamingos, and other tropical birds flying freely around them.

🦋 Butterflies, hummingbirds and other spaces

The current map includes Borboletas e Beija-flores, as well as Cecropia, Araras, Mundo dos Tucanos, Rios e Manguezais and Pequenos Marrons. Check the available spaces rather than assuming that an Amazonian reptile area mentioned in older material remains part of the visit.

🐦 Featured Species

The current visitor page highlights macaws, toucans, parrots, parakeets and jacutingas. Use the map to choose spaces; sightings of individual species can vary. Keep your distance and do not touch or feed the birds.

Is It Worth Combining It with Iguaçu National Park?

Absolutely! The Bird Park and Iguaçu Falls are practically across the street from each other. Many visitors take advantage of this and explore both attractions on the same day to maximize their time.

The operator suggests Bird Park before the falls. Treat that as one option: check your national-park admission slot, return transport and border time first. These are separate attractions with separate tickets. If your group wants frequent stops or is also taking a boat trip, separate days can be more comfortable than fitting everything into one day.

IN DETAIL

How to Get to the Bird Park?

The following options also apply to the Brazilian side of Iguaçu Falls and the helicopter ride over the Falls, because their entrances are in the same general area. They do not share a ticket gate or admission.

From Foz do Iguaçu

Use the park’s address, Avenida das Cataratas 12,450, km 17.1, when arranging transport. Saying only “the falls” may lead to a different meeting point. The official access page helps you check the location.

  • Public bus: the operator identifies line 120, Centro–Parque Nacional. Check the current timetable, direction and stop near Bird Park before travelling.

  • Taxi or app-based transport: check the quote, pickup point and return availability for your date.

  • Booking a tour

✅ Compare this product and confirm transport and ticket inclusions.

From Puerto Iguazú

From Puerto Iguazú — guide in Spanish, the journey includes an international border. Compare buses, taxis and transfers, and check service availability and your group's travel documents before booking.

By Bus:

Ask at Puerto Iguazú bus station for the current service to the attraction, not just a bus to Foz.

Confirm the exact stop for Bird Park, border procedure and return pickup point. The current direct route has not been established by this guide.

Ask Río Uruguay or the bus station whether a service to the park is available on your date. Confirm the route, park stop, departures and last return before travelling.

Bird Park Tour

Before booking a tour, confirm return transport, eligible pickup hotels, guiding, admission and time inside the park. These conditions vary between products and dates.

Compare availability and terms:

By Taxi

A good option is to book a taxi directly in Puerto Iguazú.

Request a quote specifying the outward trip, return, waiting time and both attractions if combining them. Do not assume every service is included in a quoted fare.

Check availability:

Renting a Car

A rental car gives your group control over stops and timing. It can be convenient, but compare the total cost with taxis and transfers before deciding.

Compare the full rental cost, fuel and parking with other transport options. Check cross-border authorisation and insurance if applicable; parking availability depends on the day.

Before using the comparison link below, check which provider it opens and read the rental conditions. Compare the final price and included services; a lower price is not guaranteed.

Food, rest and practical support

The official FAQ lists food outlets along the route, drinking-water points and rest facilities. Food is separate from admission. If you need a wheelchair or a particular form of assistance, ask about availability before travelling; an accessible-path description does not guarantee every support for every visitor.

The operator identifies Sabores da Floresta near the start, Bistrô da Mata along the route and Café da Praça. Check their hours and menus for your visit. The accessibility information describes free wheelchairs; availability and suitability for your group still need confirmation.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

❓ How long does it take to visit the Bird Park?

Allow about 3 hours as a planning reference, depending on your pace and how long you spend in each aviary.

❓ Can I visit if it’s raining?

The operator says it normally opens in rain. Bring rain protection and check any severe-weather notices; vegetation does not guarantee a dry route or the opening of every space.

❓ Is the park wheelchair accessible?

The operator describes paved paths, rest points and accessible toilets. Check the support your group needs. The current price policy provides reduced admission for eligible disabled visitors and, where documentation requires assistance, their companion; it does not promise free companion admission.
